The check points suck, they should be better because I just did a little corner skip and the lap didn't even count! Also their would be cool shortcuts

You can try adjusting the checkpoints and making sure there are no shortcuts that cause instant lap counts. Sometimes, small gaps in walls or unintended ramps can mess things up.
