Daisy is THE best character in the game (if you want you can use a custom Toadette with Daisy's stats), and there's a technique called Reverse Drifting which allows you to chain mini-turbos fast enough to be... well fast xd
Donkey Kong and bowser have the highest speed stat which is the most important.
