I stopped WR chasing after realizing most of the competition is seconds behind a good route's time. No competition = No fun. (Also, admittedly, the tracks are very hard to read without extensive play, it's always blury.)

I SAVED FREAKING 0.8 SECONDS ON DRY DRY DESERT LAP 1

BUT THEN I FAILED A MUSHROOM SHORTCUT AND LOST 2.5 SECONDS ON LAP 2 AHHHH
