Issue when editing.szs files with switch toolbox

Edit menu.szs race.szs ect from updates>mariokart8>content>ui

So im tryina edit menu.szs and race.szs (mario kart 8 ui files) and i am just trying to replace ui files but if i edit menu.szs (at all even just changing the color of marios face) the game freezes with a buzzing sound and if i edit race.szs then the menu loads but when I load a track the game freezes on the loading screen (without a buzz) theese szs files are the only ones i am having problems with.
Its wiiu mk8 btw

Strange. I've made a Vancouver Velocity downscale for MK8 before, and haven't had an issue. The only mod that crashes or sends me off course (in MK8DX) is Yoshi Valley for Battle Mode.
The Mariokart World mod (for MK8 and MK8DX) crashes as well, and it just annoys me. So... I can't help you (unfortunately...) and am experiencing the same problem.

It's one of my files, and to be honest, I don't want to be toasted by Nintendo (and don't want to deal with ''IT'S NOT WORRRKINNNG'' on itch.io), so I'm just going to give up and not share it. You can try for yourself, just look up an image of the MKWorld logo, do some painstakingly hard transparency editing, and give up on the tracks.

this is because when Mario kart 8 updated from ver 1 it only supported 8 cups and 30 characters
so if you ty loading the old ui the game gets confused and crashes. im still having trouble porting kart mods from mk8dx to wii u tho.. if you have any tips

The Switch is too high quality. See if you can size down on the points, but DO NOT make it smaller. Make it less high quality.
A big problem is that porting older to newer is easy, but porting newer to older is hard. Which is exactly why direct model ports from Switch to Wii U are rare. It's time-consuming to downscale on an entire track model. (It took me a month with Vancouver Velocity because I didn't know what I was doing the first week, but got it the next.) Try recreating them if you still have trouble.

I forgot how to on Blender (if that's what you're using), The mod I made for MKWorld didn't have tracks, and that file was from around when the direct came out. I still haven't mastered downscaling, because my knowledge of downscaling came from a Youtuber using Track Studio.
You might have to make them from the Standard Kart and go from there. It's been a few months and I went for music development after that failed attempt at Mariokart World.
