Are 4:3 Screens Unsettling?

Does anyone find 4:3 to be unnerving in 14:8 screens? I think it's because of the black letterboxes, but they make me nervous. Take the Sonic CD intro for example:

It doesn't matter how thick the letterbox is, but if it's more close to thin than thick, it's a problem.

no? 4:3 is typically known as fullscreen in alot of games, its basically an smaller version of 16:9 (16:9 would be like 1920x1080 while 4:3 would be 640x360)

you know man with all due respect i think you can be tougher than being shaken in your boots by a screen formats.
