I think we need to take a deeper review of Sonic's identity in Sonic CD, because the game's director is the same person who even created the character in early 1990. The opening and ending cutscenes give you a junio-styled perception of Sonic, which is my 2nd favorite version of him. 1st being Paramount Sonic. But anyways, It's like Sonic was meant to represent hope, justice and freedom. Forget the cockiness and linear-based gameplay of Modern Sonic, I think Sonic CD best describes who Sonic is, in my opinion.

He can be tricky at first but once you get the hang of him, he can cause massive damage to structures.

(The Animal Mechanicals gather to the mission briefing.)
All: Animal Mechanical mission time!
(The Island Owl's egg rises up to be cracked open.)
Island Owl: Good morning Animal Mechanicals!
AM: Good morning Island Owl!
Island Owl: Very big mission today!
AM: (exclaim)
Island Owl: Your destination is Banana-Cable Island.
Rex: Look! Glowing bananas!
Island Owl: On the island, the Mechana-Monkeys use their magnetic tails to zip along the giant overhead zip line to go and harvest the island's special glow-bananas. But a rogue magnetic storm has demagnetized the main power cable!
Unicorn: Oh, no!
Island Owl: Now, the Mechana-Monkeys are stuck on the ground, and the glow-bananas are starting to lose their shine.
Komodo: How do we help the main power cable?
Island Owl: Your mission is to give the power cable a massive friction spark to re-magnetize. Mechana can you do it?
AM: We Animal Mechanical can!
(The team go down the slide onto the island itself.)
Rex: Here we are! Banana-Cable Island!
Unicorn: I can tell Rex is very excited to harvest the glow-bananas.
Sasquatch: They're not to far from here. All we need to do is configure the main station and we're set!
(They halt because of the Mechana-Ivy Vines.)
Rex: Yikes! We can't squeeze through the Mechana-Ivy Vines, what can we do?
Sasquatch: It seems that we need a tool to snip the vines away in order to pass. But who can do that?
Komodo: Uhhh... Oh! I'm the Animal Mechanical for this problem! Komodo!

Komodo: Oooh! My rubber ducky! How'd that get in there?
(Scissors show up.)
Komodo: Aha! A pair of scissors, to the rescue!

Unicorn: Handy dandy tool time!
(The Mechana-Ivy vines collapse and open up space for the team to walk through.)
Mouse: Awesome! Now we can meet up with the monkeys!
All: (exclaim)
(Transition)
Mouse: Let's go and really see what's going on with the zip line.
(A Mechana-Monkey chitters what happened. Mouse uses her ears to translate.)
Mouse: It says due to the storm, the zip line has lost it's power.
(More info comes.)
Mouse: Which means that their tails wont grasp it very well!
Rex: Then we need to get something that can clip onto over there and act like a bridge!
Mouse: Then we can visit the main power station!
Sasquatch: Um, nope. Nothing around here.
Komodo: Ahem?
Sasquatch: Hey! Why don't I go over there and lead you guys! Behold, the mighty Sasquatch!

Komodo: I'm not sure he's long enough to reach the end!
Sasquatch: Don't worry, the other side is much more lower than where we are! Just a bit more!

Rex: Look! He made it! Great work Sasquatch!
All: (cheer)
Mouse: Okay everyone, now we can traverse using the Sasquatch bridge!
(While they're walking, Sasquatch tries not to get tickled.)
Sasquatch: I think I'm starting to lose grip. Hurry before I lose balance!
(The 4 make it. Sasquatch de-transforms and joins in.)
Rex: Now that we're here, let's check on the glow-bananas.
(They're slowly losing their aura.)
Rex: They're about to become dull!
Komodo: Not just that, it's about to become dark soon.
Rex: We gotta hurry, I don't wanna know what can happen.
Unicorn: Don't sweat it, Rex. Hey, those stairs lead up to the lever. Let's go!
(Transition)
Mouse: We have a problem here. This lever looks too corroded to budge!
Sasquatch: Let me try and handle this. Sasquatch, making it happe--
(He just ends up crashing into Komodo. Komodo's dizzy.)
Sasquatch: Well, even I don't have the strength to help out.
Komodo: You learn something new every day.
Unicorn: Something firm and tough can hold on and switch the lever down as soon as possible! But who can do that action?
Rex: Looks like I'm the Animal Mechanical for this job! Rex!

Sasquatch: I enjoy seeing Rex handle jammed stuff.
(The lever perfectly hits down as Rex removes his jaw from it.)
Sasquatch: Alright! (looks at his left and turns back, quickly turns left again and spots something.) Woah! What's that threshold over there?
(They go and investigate.)
Komodo: That's weird, a wheel? Not to useful for this occasion. Hold on, maybe something quick can go in there and make the wheel spin so fast, it creates a friction spark.
Unicorn: To make the power cable turn on!
Rex: Mouse, why don't you try?
Mouse: Ok, here we go! Mouse!

(Mouse get up the ramp and starts making the wheel spin.)
Sasquatch: She's fast.
(The main power cable finally reaches the point where it turns on, glowing bright blue.)
Rex: Everyone, look! It finally powered on!
All: (cheer)
Komodo: Okay, Mouse, you can stop now.
Mouse: Aww, that was kinda fun!
Rex: It's already dark? Quick! Everyone to the glow-bananas!
Unicorn: Hey, they're illuminating the area!
Sasquatch: And here come the Mechana-Monkeys!
(The Mechana-Monkeys leap into the air, and lock their magnetic tails back onto the zip line. Now they harvest the glow-bananas.)
Rex: Animal Mechanicals, mission accomplised! May we help the Mechana-Monkeys with harvesting the glow-bananas? Pretty please?
