We have the introduction of generation 1 of players, the "Old School" players that joined in the early era.

we got to ask players that joined in the "Early Days" era when track builder was added

I think most of those players probably left MKPC and i'm pretty sure a good majority of people are probably french because the game originated from France. Really, the best person to ask is @Wargor because he created the game.

first ever public mention of MKPC, from back when the first version was released (in french tho)
Basically when Wargor released the first version of this (which had like 5% of the content we have today lol) a small commnunity was active with him (considering he was 15/16 at the time, and most of the others too), and it stayed like that until mid-2011, where I couldn't really find any information, before this forum was added in 2012, and even then it was really inactive, and outside of 2/3 users who managed to stay out there for years, basically everyone else never joined back, with like one exception being a guy named Luidi, who made a LOT of QM tracks in the very early days, who did make some other ones as late as 2018 (or even later I need to check thatà but nobody noticed and he disappeared again
Also between 2012 and early 2016 the activity was really low (and the rare stuff that was posted is mostly gone), if the site started to be active it was because a first wave or new users started in 2016, with some of them still here (Fways, Ryubix, Wal68, and many others), then it stayed pretty consistent, with non-french users joining between 2018/2019, before a HUGE second wave came in 2020 because of covid + 2020 F3 (which was like E3 but for fangames, with MKPC being featured)

I was watching the F3, but I wasn't able to watch the whole thing. I was like 9 at this point and learned HTML programming to not be sitting around doing nothing. It's proved to be invaluable for understanding MKPC's code, and it appears since Wargor was 15-16 when he made this site, (I was not born yet but I found a wayback machine for this game's 2012 release for a school project in 2020 and never thought about it again until 2021/2023. The years during the *ahem* forbidden-on-YouTube period are pretty blurry and faded for me, I don't remember much and can't place a date nor remember when I first played this game. All I can remember is that I was with GabeGamer, played with GabeGamer, then played a time trial as Toad, typed in MisterToad and ended up in 821th place on GBA Bowser's Castle 3.
