What features do you want to see in the next mainline Mario game? I made this topic to discuss that. I think a straight-up 3D open world you explore without individual levels would be cool, but I want to see what everyone else has to say.

Ik some Paper Mario already did this but I think switching between 2D and 3D would be interesting for a mainline game

1. OPEN WORLD
2. Luigi is actually a day 1 playable character instead of having to beat the main game or 100% it (Galaxy) to unlock him
3. I actually want them to use power-ups (3D Land and 3D world dont count because they're linear level games not your typical 3D Mario)
4. I want the koopalings to finally make their 3D Debut, I know its boring because its the same plot as the NSMB series but each koopaling will rule over one Reigon but make them their own unique bossfight not just the usual stomp on their head 3 times
5 Koopaling's Reigons: Larry: Grasslands, Roy: Dessert, Wendy: Water/Beach, Lemmy: Snow/Ice, Iggy: Forest/Jungle, Morton: Cloud/Skies, Ludwig: Mountains
6 Maybe add a go kart as an unlockable way to travel
7 Have Yoshi be a main part of the game like galaxy 2
8: After you rescue peach you can unlock her as a playable character

Edit: I really don't understand the hype for exploration based games. Face it. The only good mainline exploration based games are SM64 and Odyssey, and even then, Odyssey has so many moons that it's pushing that title.
Edit 2: 836 is very, very excessive. Especially since there are 200 or so moons that serve no purpose.
