I agree! Ever since I went to my grandma's to play MKWii & Wii Sports for the first time as a child, I've become familiarized with Mario's voice & even have some of his unforgettable lines trapped in my head to this day! Now, many years later, I'm grown up as an adult & I hear of Charles' retirement. Very sad day for us Mario fans! But I fully understand, since he's well over 60 years old. When this man dies, he will forever be remembered as a Nintendo and Dr. Seuss legend.
Now the only thing we can hope for is this new Mario voice actor to be good.

I mean someone characters like Rosalina changed their VAs, but we didn't nearly see them as much so it won't feel the same. As PrimeTime would say : "A legend has retired" lol. Well goodbye Charled, we won't forget you.

Old age. He's 67 which means he is elderly and the job would have given him large amounts of money so he could comfortably retire at this age. I hope he enjoys the rest of his life.

To be honest with you, idk but Nintendo is good to find talents, so I'm not that scared on the future.
Sure, it will be weird and feel different to what we're used to, but there will be a new light to the show !

We don't know yet, & it doesn't matter too much. Mario is very easy to VA, so it shouldn't be a problem. Wario, on the other hand, that's an actual character. They might have to split them up now instead of a singular person, but whoever it is, I doubt "normies" will know them from beforehand lol

Anyway, with all the rebooting they've set up & done(PIKMIN 4, Forgotten Land, Engage, Bayo 3, TotK, Metroid Dread, Pokemon SV, MK8DX etc.) during the Switch era, now is the perfect time to switch VAs.
