I've had SMTs sometimes work too
Doubt this is a collision error because you can only do this from that respawn

If you use a jump to get into a wall on DK Pass or Airship Fortress, you can drive out into the background of the track until you hit a wall. But then, when you try to go back, an invisible wall will block you causing a softlock. It's more interesting on Airship Fortress since you drive over the water. Since there's no way to get to that water without glitches, Wargor saw no need to make the water an out of bounds zone, allowing you to drive freely over it
