Dolphin crashes when using cheats

So Dolphin runs OK (most of the time) but when I try to enable cheats they ether do nothing or they crash Dolphin entirely how do i fix this?

Just don't use cheats, problem fixed

I'm trying to use fun ones that let you fly not just ones to unlock everything

make sure the cheat codes are made for the same version of the game you're using, I remember having an issue where a 60fps code for Sonic Unleashed wouldn't work cause it was meant for a US rom and I was using a european one
