I can't wait for this game to come out but I'm concerned about the high price. It's really not worth $80 I just don't get it. I know its the first Mario Kart game that came out in YEARS but still. Just LOOK AT IT. Do you think this is worth $80 because just why. Why Nintendo your just trying to get money out of us its not fair. I don't think this is worth $80.

Anti-gravity was poorly used on 90% of tracks and has been replaced by wall riding, which is a lot more dynamic(you can dodge items, take actual shortcuts, not boring and actually requires skill to use well)

Underwater was always poorly used except on 3 tracks in MK7, MK8 & MKT(literally 1 from each game)and it has been replaced by speedboat/onwater driving, which is going to have much more interesting interactions than it usually with how the waves will function. (Imagine having a green shell graze your hair instead of hit you because of a wave from something like the Bomb/Blue explosion) It's still gonna be boring, but underwater was always like that anyway.

Gliding was so limited movement-wise in Mario Kart 8 compared to 7 & even Tour, the new Gliding is somewhere inbetween both, has shortcut potential, tricks can be used to reposition better to avoid items, motion glider has been deleted to make the gap between pros & casuals closer.

Mario Kart World definitely has it's problems, but when Diddy Kong Racing & SART have both done these(onwater & planes) and are both remembered extremely fondly...
These aren't problems.

The main problem is the price tag, even with the bundle.

Switch 2 w/MKWorld: $500
Metroid Prime 4: $60 (+ $10 for the upgrade)
KatFL + SCW: $20 (if you don't own this game already you're missing out)

This is $590. That's bad. And this is only counting the good/not useless games. If you buy something like Jamboree TV, or the Zelda upgrades, or Drag X Drive, you're going in over $600, which is about how much you would've spent for a PS5 and a couple games at launch.

Obviously I do not recommend MKWorld if you're only going to play it for a month & never touch it again like most streamers will do, but if you're going to be re-playing it for the next 5 years like almost everyone here most certainly will be doing...you'll get your $80 worth for it.

This, to me, is the difference between Sony & Nintendo games.

Sony's games are $70 and still worth it (usually), but aside from Astro & RC you play them once for the thrilling story and...basically never touch them again(atleast, that's the impression I get).

Most of Nintendo's games are designed to be replayable. Even games like Xenoblade have a lot of replayability (if you enjoy Xenoblade for more than it's story, which I would hope you did)

It doesn't excuse the price tag, but this argument came up twice in the past already:

1: For Metroid Dread, ppl thought $60 was too much for an 8 hour game.

2: For TotK, ppl thought $70 was inexplicable for BotW2

And in the end? Both games were justified.

I'm sure that this game will be worth $80, if you actually interact with it more than a week. Otherwise, don't buy it. Just means less lag online, which is a win for me.

In other news, Xbox is raising prices too.
Series S will be $50 more expensive
Series X will now be $100 more expensive

TB prices follow the same increase

Special Edition controllers up, headsets up

All games will be $80 from November

Clearly Nintendo's fault btw (they collectively (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft)tried to stop this before by the way, in 2019. I wonder why they might've wanted to do that before 2020?)

Apparently the reasoning behind the global increase is bc of the tariffs (Xbox is made in China) so to keep the US price at the same point as everywhere else(Xbox sales in the US are double everywhere else), they've raised prices globally instead.

Sony will very much be doing the same(PSN price got raised outside the US a while back), fortunately for us, Nintendo produces their consoles in Vietnam & tariffs are lower there, and paused)

TLDR: We're going to lose a considerable amount of casual players across the board, and if you've ever thought about switching to PC, now is the time to do it.
