It's literally what happens in PMD2, with extra dungeons, bosses, etc., there are Trainers, Darkrai is good, you get the gist of it.

Anyway, if you want a strong (and blue) Pokémon, choose Goatungsten. Despite being Steel-type, it knows plenty of Water- and Ice-type moves. Its signature move, Boreal Blast, minimizes the attacker's stats while inflicting heavy damage (and it's Ice-type!)

I would recommend also having Bovigneous on your team. Its hidden ability, Scorched Soil, causes the Firestorm weather status, dealing damage to most Pokémon types excluding Fire-types, Rock-types, Ground-Types and Grass-types.
