I really don't like dogs. They are cute, but they can be scary at times, and slobbery LOL

As Nudge says, I agree, but to an extent. If your criticism was constructive, calm or just chill then I agree. If you're saying yooo that's fucking bs you suck to someone who tries hard, although that doesn't seem to be the case here, then yes they have the right to fire back at you.
