MKPC On Switch!
On 2024-02-02 at 08:32:58
A while ago, I have found out that MKPC is fully playable on the Switch, meaning you can play Custom Tracks and Official Tracks!
Nintendo does not plan on releasing any browsers such as Google to the Switch anytime soon, but you can access it by using the settings
--- Steps ---
1) Go to your Switch Settings on the homepage and scroll down to Internet Options
2) Find your Network and then click on it and click on Change Network Settings
3) You want to change the DNS settings from Automatic to Manual. Then enter 45.55.142.122 as the IP address for the Manual DNS.
4) Connect to the Network. You should have an error when connecting to the Network.
From there, you will see the SwitchBru DNS Welcome Page, a software that simulates Google from the Switch! You can search up 'Mario Kart PC' and start playing!
--- Important Notes ---
> You will be disconnected from the server after 20 minutes, a feature Nintendo has implemented in that hasn't had any work-around yet. Just re-connect if you want to keep playing.
> MKPC doesn't run very smoothly on Switch and you may have problems accessing Quick Mode / Complete Mode in the Track Editor.
> When you no longer want to play MKPC on Switch and wish to connect to the Internet again, change the DNS Settings of your Network from Manual to Automatic and save, before connecting to your Network again.

Can you softlock MKPC?
On 2023-08-26 at 11:28:56
Is it possible to Softlock MKPC? If you know any way to Softlock then put it here (where i got the idea from: https://mkpc.malahieude.net/circuit.php?id=53245)
This can also be done in quick mode race tracks
MKPC Players after a new user complains about the CPU in Grand Prix:
On 2023-12-01 at 21:18:36
I want to write an essay about this.
"Skill issue" might seem like one of the dumbest things you can say to a frustrated newcomer. It's literally not giving any advice to improve, it's kinda rude, and at the end of the day it is ext inremely unconstructive. Yet, sometimes it's just true that there is genuinely no solution other than to improve. CPUs with snaking might be very hard and frustrating at first, but once you learn the current meta, which is reverse drifting, you won't have any CPU problems anymore. Still, splattering skill issue everywhere is just as tiring as the amount of topics that complain about the CPUs. The skill gap is enormous and we cannot change that.
Also yes, it's quite discouraging to always fail when joining something. Still, it's not terribly bad neither.

Just to further add onto this message I'd like to include a video made by JPG, showing the reverse drifting inputs that are useful on several tracks.

Suggestion: New challenge difficulties
On 2023-11-13 at 15:54:18
@PixelMK's message, but I should probably switch some difficulty names (especially impossible with the 2 above):
Honestly this is the chart I had in mind recently after reading Null: 0 point (for mere effortless, non-challenging tasks)
Easy: 1 point (for challenges that aren't difficult even for beginners)
Medium: 2 points (tricky for a beginner, but easy for experienced players)
Hard: 5 points (beginners have to tryhard for minutes or even hours, but experienced players can beat it in a small number of attempts)
Extreme: 10 points (out of the beginner range, experienced players will need 15 minutes to 1 hour of tryhard to beat)
Impossible: 20 points (experienced players will need a few hours to a day of tryhard)
Nightmarish: 50 points (experienced players will need multiple days of tryhard)
Infernal: 100 points (for the insanely difficult challenges that require such a high number of days or weeks of tryhard, that even Nightmarish challenges feel like a cakewalk in comparison)
Easy: 1 point (for challenges that aren't difficult even for beginners)
Medium: 2 points (tricky for a beginner, but easy for experienced players)

Infernal: 100 points (for the insanely difficult challenges that require such a high number of days or weeks of tryhard, that even Nightmarish challenges feel like a cakewalk in comparison)
If you have 2 difficulties above Impossible, then Impossible starts to lose its value
These extra difficulties would be very rare anyways and only for the absolute top-difficulty challenges (MKPC challenges that take days of tryhard are extremely rare), so the 20-pts difficulty would remain the "standard" highest difficulty and not lose too much of its value.
Maybe we should just put Impossible above Nightmarish and Infernal like Nodac suggested...
I think 2 difficulties harder than Impossible would be a bit unnecessary due to the small amount of challenges that would be harder than it. Also good luck validating the 6th tier

I actually have a slightly different idea for this!
Challenges could have 6 difficulties:
Easy - This difficulty should be easy to complete for a beginner
Medium - This difficulty should serve as a tricky challenge for a beginner, but should be relatively easy to beat after a few attempts for players of low skill levels
Difficult - This difficulty should be tricky to beat for advanced players, but completable after several attempts
Extreme - This difficulty should require advanced players to tryhard and may take several hours before completion
Impossible - This difficulty should require advanced players to tryhard and may take several days before completion
Demonic - This difficulty will be for the very few challenges that are stupidly difficult to beat, making Impossible rated challenges look like a cakewalk in comparison (+50 points)
Challenges could also have a points multiplier as an optional bonus that the challenge creator allows the option for. Multipliers can range from x1.00 to x1.50 and your point multiplier will increase depending on the level for your performance. For example, if you were to play a challenge that is to complete a track in 1:50.000, if you manage to complete the track in 1:35.000, you will get additional points from the multiplier!
Note: Challenges with harder difficulties will value your actions more than what easier challenges would (as you have less room for error), meaning that you don't have to improve as much to get a better multiplier, but it will be more difficult to improve. Once you complete a challenge, you will not gain any additional points from the multiplier (even if you improve the multiplier) if you decide to beat the challenge again. If your points from the multiplier earned from the challenge results in a decimal, your points will round up.

I feel like calling it Demonic would be a bit impractical 💀

Suggestion for challenges.
On 2023-10-07 at 15:41:40
While i was verifying challenges, i saw that most of the challenges left to verify are the hardest ones. (Extreme and Impossible)
While it's not a problem for us to tryhard as we have some really great players in the verifiers team, it can be really long and we most times want to validate the challenge asap.
Which left me thinking and i got an idea! It would be great to have the option (for the ones making the challenge) to put a mp4 file (video) if they want to show that they've done the challenge legit, we wont have to manually verify it we would just need to look at the video!
Would make our job easier and the challenge maker would have his hardest challenges validated much faster! It's a win-win.
Of course the option would be available only if the challenge is "Extreme" or "Impossible".
So what do y'all think?
If this were to be added, there should be some requirements for accepting videos for challenges.
1) The video should show the full run from the 3 2 1 Go countdown to the final time.
2) The video quality has to be readable
3) The video must have all the requirements performed according to the challenge (For example playing as Daisy when the challenge is to play as Bowser is not allowed)
4) Splicing or cheating is banned
5) Frame rate can't be too bad
