It's true. I sometimes have nightmares about Mario Kart Wii, my favorite Mario game. In one dream, it's about being chased by something unknown. In another, it's about a countdown for powering off the console. The most relevant events like these are in the anti-piracy videos of the game, if you want context. Super Mario 64 also has this issue with nightmares, but I don't have these ones.

The coloring is based on regions.
Like I said, green is the forest region, cyan is the oceanic region, and navy is the city region. Dry Dry Desert has its own region hence the name "desert" and it's pretty vast.
