Hello guys. I've been playing some of the latest custom tracks by y'all, and they are pretty great. However, it seems today I want to point out that my placement wasn't always correct while racing, and sometimes a lap won't even COUNT! I want to explain to you how the checkpoints work. If you're new here, it's ok because I can show you how to fix that. It does show you how to do it in the track builder, but I still wanted to explain it here.

You have to keep a good balance of checkpoints, you can't put one right and one right over there, this isn't one of those arcade racing games. Here is an image below, which is my N64 Luigi Raceway. When placing checkpoints, try something like this to start off.

You have to exceed the checkpoints to both walls, as long as possible. It's a better chance to not miss laps. Notice how checkpoints 6 and 7 don't exceed all the way. It was a bit of a mistake but I don't see anyone missing a lap.

You don't have to go super crazy like I did with Figure-8 Circuit below, but you can if you want to. Just do not put TOO many close together, it's a better chance of missing a lap.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/687714384503636152/688017118578475034/luigi_raceway_checkpoints.PNG

https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/689277344002867276/740786305826553866/moo_moo_farm_checkpoints.PNG?width=335&height=560

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/676172708018389006/688175461070667788/bad_respawn_1.png

Recently an update dropped that allows  making certain checkpoints optional and not required to hit. If making a rainbow road track or any track that has out of bounds surrounding it, it’s best to disable the checkpoint requirements. But some must be required, or you can literally go up and back from the finish line and get lap counts.

Common Mistakes
Some people put very little checkpoints on their maps, like maybe only 10. This can cause some mighty placement confusion. You may be in first, but the game will think you're in 6th, and you might end up getting a mega mushroom or star in 1st place.

Players may also place checkpoints in odd places that make racing seem confusing. For example, using actual images as racetracks. The checkpoints might not exceed long enough either (meaning you have to be at an exact point on the track) and the player's lap may seemingly not count.

Checkpoints define your position on the map. You have to keep a good balance of checkpoints, you can't put only like 3 on the map, this isn't one of those arcade racing games. Make sure checkpoint 1 is on the finish line. Here is an image below, which is my N64 Luigi Raceway. When placing checkpoints, don't do this:

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/687714384503636152/688017118578475034/luigi_raceway_checkpoints.PNG

What's wrong with it you may ask? Notice how checkpoints 6 and 7 don't exceed all the way. DON'T DO THAT! A speedrunner might decide to take that place as a shortcut, and the lap won't count for them. You have to exceed the checkpoints to both walls, as long as possible. It's a better chance to not miss laps.

Instead, do something like this. Here is my N64 Moo Moo Farm:
https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/689277344002867276/740786305826553866/moo_moo_farm_checkpoints.PNG?width=335&height=560

As you can see, the checkpoints correctly exceed to both of the walls on the sides. This won't glitch players who are trying to cut corners.

You don't have to go super crazy like I did with Figure-8 Circuit below, but you can if you want to. Just do not put TOO many close together, it's a better chance of missing a lap.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/676172708018389006/688022852615798796/f8c.PNG

BE CAUTIOUS!!!!!
When respawning your player from falling down a hole, MAKE SURE that the player doesn't spawn MORE AHEAD! This is one of the biggest sources of lap miscounts. Respawning far ahead may skip a checkpoint unknowingly, and the game will put you in last place. That is, until you eventually hit it.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/676172708018389006/688175461070667788/bad_respawn_1.png

Always place the respawn point before the hazard, or before the checkpoint at least. It will make gameplay much better.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/676172708018389006/688175460525408329/good_respawn_1.png

WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?!?!?
Absoulutely under NO circumstances should you Google the most RANDOM picture and make it into a racetrack. People will have literally NO idea where the heck to go...

I know I keep discussing it like it just came out but I feel like this is an accomplishment in my life. All these years I wanted to make my own grand prix for a racing game... and now I've done it. Even if it's just MKPC...

Also here's my tier of the 20 nitro maps. I didn't add the rest yet.

Hello everyone! If you're unfamiliar with me I am the creator of Mario Kart Bundle - N64, GCN, Wii, 3DS (the top rated creation).

For years, I wanted to make my own full Mario Kart Grand Prix somehow, but never really had the motivation to finish one. After seeing the creations by Fways, Kirio, and Lely, who made their own Mario Kart Grand Prix, I decided I should try one out myself. I got to work, using paint.net that I had for a while on my laptop.

It was tricky at first but immediately got the hang of it, and soon I started rapidly producing many maps! There are 40 tracks in the game between 10 characters to choose from:

- Bloom (Winx Club)
- Tuesday X (The X's)
- Milky Way (Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls)
- Kenny McCormick (South Park)
- Butters Stotch (South Park)
- Marina (Zig & Sharko)
- Timmy Turner (The Fairly OddParents)
- Mr. Crocker (The Fairly OddParents)
- Lois Griffin (Family Guy)
- Miss Power (WordGirl)

Why them? I made them at the time so I said "why not?" and made them the roster xD

So earlier I finished the final cup, and now the full cup is ready. I tested it online with some friends, who all gave positive reviews, calling it lounge material. What is YOUR opinion?

Play it here: https://mkpc.malahieude.net/map.php?mid=4225

Super Mario Kart - Banana
Mario Kart 64 - Lightning
Mario Kart Super Circuit - Triple Red Shells
Mario Kart Double Dash - Heart
Mario Kart DS - Triple Red Shells
Mario Kart Wii - Bullet Bill
Mario Kart 7 - Triple Red Shells
Mario Kart 8 - Horn
Mario Kart Tour - Heart

The banana is the best item in Super Mario Kart if you place it correctly. It's fun to mess up the rival order, especially on Mario Circuit 2.

The lightning is the best item in Mario Kart 64 because it's obtainable in any position outside 1st. It's very powerful, especially on Wario Stadium.

The heart is the best Double Dash and Tour item as it PREVENTS items from hitting you, and you can even dodge lightning with it too.

Want me to just write you a song?

If you want me to write a song for a track you made I can be more than welcome to. Let's just stop using Nintendo's music because they're just gonna terminate the channel you got the source from within a month or two.

Apart from Nintendo is Square. I also found many Final Fantasy VII uploads getting removed too. What does that say for all other companies at this time?

Due to not being able to send audio files in forums, song requests are only accepted on Discord in the official MKPC server.

Everything that makes Mario Kart Tour great:
There’s no four tracks per cup setup
Two laps and very slow gameplay
Unfair AI that always takes the lead for the rest of the game when you get hit
All the items suck like bubble, mega mushroom, and even frenzy
Smart steering is always enabled which means that it will make you turn away even when trying to use a mushroom on a shortcut
The millions of useless characters that are nothing more than clones in different outfits
Pay to win features like the gold pass
You need thousands of points just to get like four stars
Rubies are very hard to get and you need a lot of them to pay for things like pipes
Some tracks are more biased than others including Yoshi Circuit and Cheep Cheep Lagoon for example compared to Rock Rock Mountain which took over a year to reappear
Mushrooms do not really go that fast like in MK64
AI loves to cheat and tries to get you the split second you’re open
Super Circuit tracks come back all ruined, Choco Mountain included depending on your view
Sky Garden’s remix is literal trash, Booster Course Pass fixed that
You will often get the rewards you already have when pulling the pipes

Making your checkpoints - 2022 Edition

Question:
what is the point of optional checkpoints

That way you don't HAVE to hit a checkpoint to count the lap. This is more recommended when you're on a Rainbow Road or something and both sides are gaps. It can mess up laps if the respawn is placed wrong.
what if we don't put a checkpoint there at all, what's the difference?

it's extra precautionary to prevent messed up placements. One may think a lap didn't count when in reality it did.
