I don't own MKDD, MKDS, MKW, MK7 or MK8 and haven't played any of the arcade games

#6: Super Mario Kart
Yeah, yeah, it was their first attempt at making a Mario Kart game, but playing it now in 2023 is just bad. I'm sure the controls are better on other consoles, but I've only played it on Switch with JoyCons and it's waaaay too slippery. I always have trouble controlling the older games bc of that. The track selection also isn't anything special aside from MC2, BC3, both Koopa Beaches and Rainbow Road. Also why was DK Jr. picked over DK? Like, seriously, where was the logic there?

#5: Mario Kart: Super Circuit
It's just Super Mario Kart with a few changes imo. DK Jr. was replaced with DK which is good. The new tracks are pretty good, especially Sky Garden, Sunset Wilds, Ribbon Road, Yoshi Desert, BC4 and Rainbow Road (more good tracks than SMK). Hot take, but Riverside Park has the best music in the game and the MK8DX remix is in the top 5 for any Mario Kart music. Controls still suck on Switch. Star system is the most cryptic and tedious thing I have ever seen. Moving on.

#4: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit
Let's start with the positives. If you have a large house, you can make tons of unique Mario Kart tracks. There are tons of different track themes especially in the Grand Prix mode, and all the MK8 music is here. But if you live in a smaller house, or worse, an apartment, your options are much more limited. The controls aren't perfect and feel different than MK8DX because, well, it's in real life. Mario/Luigi can't drive through grass and overall the technology is limited. This game is eh overall imo.

#3: Mario Kart 64
I still think the controls are too slippery, and the character selection is limited (although they did pick DK over DK Jr.). However, this game is leaps and bounds ahead of SMK and MKSC imo. I mean, look at Bowser's Castle, Sherbet Land, Frappe Snowland, Koopa Troopa Beach and Yoshi Valley. The controls are much better than the 2D games and none of the tracks are boring except Luigi Raceway and Moo Moo Farm. Kalimari Desert and Wario Stadium are genius ideas, but the execution was eh. Overall my rating for each game from here on out is going up bc of the games being 3D.

#2: Mario Kart Tour
Yep. I like MKT. Firstly, the weekly tours are amazing imo bc they allow the game to have way more tracks in it, and they picked good ones. This game utilizing underwater mechanics and glider ramps was also a great move, although I wish it had antigravity in it so it could have MK8 tracks. The sheer amount of characters and kart parts is insane, even if most of the characters are alts (getting any ideas, MK8DX?). The shop is much better than most people think, and I honestly like the gotcha mechanics. I also personally love the controls aside from drifting, making it beginner friendly while offering room for improvement. And I love that jump boosts happen automatically. The challenges at the end of every cup are an amazing idea but I wish there were more of them, and they were their own mode instead of taking up a track slot. Overall I really like this game. Fight me.

#1: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
This game is what Mario Kart should be. A vast variety of characters with more being added. Nearly a hundred tracks. An amazing battle mode (I haven't even mentioned battle mode for the previous games bc I don't like it there lol), although I wish there were more battle tracks (maybe even the ones from the original MK8 ). The online mode is the best of the games I've player and works great, especially the Tournaments feature which is extremely underrated. Wireless is also great, although not usable often. The controls are even better than Tour's, especially once mastered. Overall this game is absolutely amazing in my eyes and I can't wait for it to improve further in Wave 6. Also, I'mma say it, I think the BCP having worse graphics early on than the base game isn't a problem whatsoever.
