I fr don't get why reviving a topic is bad... Can anybody explain?

I have no idea. Maybe because it has already been discussed before?

I think that rule was originally made so that old and useless topics would not block the visibility of actually new topics. I think a revive is fine if it's not too old, but over 1 year is silly most of the times. Also it depends on relevancy, official or important topics can be revived but there is no point in reviving a topic that debates over which is better between potato and onion
