★ Introduction ★

Hello everyone, for those who don't know me already, I am Hazel. I've been on this site since 2022, it's been with me for the majority of my teenage years and this site means a lot to me, the people here have partially shaped the way I am and I've met many amazing people on this site even throughout the time I was a regular player just like you, to becoming a challenge validator for a while, to also becoming a moderator as of recent

I believe that honesty and transparency is a good quality to have, it allows people to have a better understanding of things and allows us to develop trust in each other and more. I created this topic to let you all know our experiences as challenge validators and moderators, alongside why certain stuff on the site has been slow and a little bit of info as to what we've been doing behind the scenes

★ Site Activity ★

Many of us challenge validators and/or moderators/administrators are 17, 18, 19 years old etc. The majority of us are either: preparing for exams, going to college/university, are currently working a job etc. We're at a stage in our lives where we are becoming more independent as we learn how to live by ourselves in the real world, it's a huge step to move away from home and your parents and as a result of these new priorities of entering adulthood, we have to focus on more important matters of life - which may lead to a decline in activity on the site

Due to stuff like this, challenges are also taking a while to be accepted, I see the list and I definitely want to go validate a bunch of challenges again someday, but we simply have less time to focus on these things. The same goes with moderation, we may miss some things or can be slow to respond to certain reports, but we do try our best to remain active and get these reports sorted out. We're grateful in your help and support for making MKPC a safer site for everyone by reporting these issues

Moderating is not just about the safety of everyone with an account on MKPC, but it's also about considering the silent majority - the people who play MKPC but never make an account, I believe this is where most of the player base is at. So we all try our best to keep the site safe when we can, whilst also dealing with stuff in our own lives too

★ Behind The Scenes ★

When I first became a mod, I had the wish thought that I can imagine all the other mods have, to keep MKPC a site safe from bad actors and bad people in general. Every one of us has been on the site for a while and have some form of connection with the community, it's played a small but effective part of our lives and we (or I know for definite at least I) want to give back by help this community through challenge validation and moderation

A lot of staff actions we do are well thought-out, we talk to each other if we need help deciding certain things and we try find the best solution to certain problems

You'll notice that when the site gets someone who trolls with inappropriate accounts, there is a significantly reduced number of inappropriate usernames. Me, alongside the help of the other moderators within our team have removed over 3,000 inappropriate usernames from the site in a matter of days and we will keep removing more inappropriate usernames we find, and make this site safer bit by bit.

We plan to continue making the site safer through this and the current means we already have

I'll play online when there is enough people online playing to where I won't lose 400+ VR in a single race, because 1 bad loss can be like 20 wins of VR lost, which takes forever to get back especially since I am aiming for Superstar rank

I usually spectate or quit if player counts get too low for this reason, I would be down for some casual Non-VR play if I am not busy too

This topic is slowly becoming a place to send meaningless messages that serve zero purpose other than to be posted for the sake of being posted. Apologies to those who were using this topic as it was intended by continuing the chain with meaningful messages, but this issue has been ongoing and it has to stop at some point.

Don't you think we should get back on topic? It's not that hard to respond to one another following the starting letter theme without it having be random slop messages being posted just to post or claim the next letter in the alphabet

The looping back to the start isn't an issue (this topic would have died at 26 messages without it), but the issue is the people using this topic to send random slop messages, and the arguments caused within this topic, making it lose it's original theming.

I'm sure Mikutown didn't intend for this to be twisted into what it is now, this is actually an improvisation game that people play in real life, and so there was nothing wrong with the initial idea itself.

Someone start the next message with E and let's move on past this, the topic will have to be locked if this topic continues to be misused (sorry Mikutown)

Why don't you just be respectful? Even if it's something you personally don't agree with, you should still treat people with respect (given they're not being horrible to you specifically). Respect is universal

So AI has to be accessible to everyone globally and answer questions, give feedback or ideas across several topics. It cannot do this on its own, so it needs lots and lots of data from Non-AI sources to build up its understanding. Since there's a lot of stuff to remember across several topics, it's simply too much data to store on a simple hard drive, so companies have to build AI data centres, which you can imagine as buildings with loads and loads of servers just storing data.

When coming up with responses, AI relies on this data so to use it the servers have to do a bit of work, which uses up power. The power being supplied to these servers heat them up, but that heat has to actually go somewhere else it'll just melt the components.

There are 2 main ways they've considered to cool down these servers:

Power: The reason this doesn't work very well is because it's already very expensive, given how much power they're also using to keep the servers running

Water: Companies are using this as a cheaper alternative, because it can cool down the servers. They aren't pouring the water onto them (that would be dumb ) but the water takes in some of the heat and it causes the water to evaporate.

The water in your day to day life isn't pure H2O, because that would be pretty much impossible. There's a bunch of minerals in there too, but it's only the H2O that evaporates. This is an issue because as more of the water evaporates, the remaining water becomes more and more concentrated with these minerals that can actually damage the components inside. So this water has to be replaced with more clean drinking water, and that's why and where all our water is going
