Tbh Ultimate Idugan is also very similar since Idugan are psychics/shamans so I think for me you should lean more into the spiritual/necromantic side of shamanism if it's easier for you.

1) The artstyle could be a little better but since you're most likely a first timer I don't expect a masterpiece lol
2) Write the dialogue BEFORE you draw the speech bubbles, trust me it looks exponentially better
3) Go with as unique a style and story as you can, it really makes your comics stand out
4) By all means go for it! It's a great thing to get into, even if you don't publish them you feel really good during and after writing since it often relieves stress
