I'm pretty sure The Super Mario Bros. Movie takes place on August 10 - 12 in 1985, before September 13. And for the Galaxy Movie, July 27, 1990, before November 21.
But in the Bros. Movie, Luigi has a modern phone, and the house they plumb in is also modern.

This will make sense if you think about it. If Super Mario Galaxy and 2 is coming back, then maybe Nintendo could bring back Mario Kart Wii also, with some DLC content! Like new characters, cups, and battle arenas.

Look at the Mario Movie world map, our kingdom was the largest out of all of them. And we had to go through the SMB levels in order to cross. I mean, going through Rainbow Road would be easy, but the path got broken by Koopa General.

Imo, Super Mario Galaxy is the Mario game of dreaming, and dreams themselves. The aesthetics of the gameplay is mesmerizing, and there's so much exploration you can do with the galaxies.
