The problem with Grand Prix
On 2025-05-03 at 06:24:42
Since this topic is still alive, can somebody please give me LEGITIMATE TIPS on how to beat the Special and Mini Cups that aren't just RD and "git good"?
There aren't any tips besides that tho.
So I'm supposed to just pray for the best? 'Cause I've been playing MKPC for almost 5 years.
Yep. There's a lot of luck involved.
Best I can tell you is to make sure that you win the first 3 races every time so that you shuld be able to win while only doing moderately on the Rainbow Road. And to just don't drift on the Rainbow Roads either.
Thats kinda the problem though no? The fact that THAT much luck is involved and the best strategy is to just hope you get first in 3/4 races so that 1 won't impact the score as much. It's not something you would call fairly designed.
I mean, if you put in the effort getting 1st in 3/4 races is still more skill than luck. Just make sure you clutch up on Rainbow Road and you'll be fine.

I'm not gonna be the broken record that repeats the skill issue thing, but you can resort to bagging?
You're right tho, these tracks are shit.

How do I get good at MKPC?
On 2025-05-08 at 19:49:34
I recently started MKPC and when I looked at the leaderboard for
Mario circuit 1 I saw the fastest time and he used a technique called sneaking how do I do that?
Plus I know how to drift im not dumb

1: Welcome to the website!
2: I mean, the game tells you the controls right off the bat, knowing how to drift doesn't necessarily make you not dumb.
3: The technique that the world records use is actually called reverse drifting (snaking does exist but it's way slower). As for teaching it, you'll have to wait for somebody who knows it to see this.
We should be able to make our own items
On 2024-07-10 at 01:49:35
The Wonder Flower, which will select a random item effect when used.
It could give you a Mushroom Boost
It could shrink you, like a Poison Mushroom
Maybe you turn into a Bullet Bill?
Maybe it explodes(ala Bob-omb)?
Maybe you get a Star?
Who knows?
Point is, it'll be more RNG

Do you think the price of the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World is excessive?
On 2025-05-01 at 23:35:43
Luckily the game pass has nothing (I think?)
Yh, gamepass is still the same. Considering that Sony raised PSN a bit ago, I think they would've mentioned it if they planned to bump the price. Should be safe there.

By the way it's funny that xbox have increased their prices
Not really. This has been a long time coming. They tried fighting off the tariffs back in 2019-2020 together(all 3) and got lucky then. That...was not the case for 2024 and the rest of us are now forced to pay the price.

The CPU's have way too many advantages in Grand Prix in dis Game.

Cry about it + skill issue + ratio + L
ME: SHUT UP! You never play GP OR Online fail + noob
Firstly, I'mma ask you to change your nick. You're single-handed ruining Mayro's name.
Secondly, Osc is def not a noob. Neither are most of the people you're currently arguing with, aka the ones on the OTHER side of this argument. KirbyBoy isn't a "noob", exactly, but he isn't exactly "stacked" either. If you don't know what you're talking about, don't say it, unless you are prepared to apologize later when you get your OOF rocked.
Well, you don't actually have to. I got abit ahead of myself there, sorry. Also it's okay, everyone gets stuff wrong all the time. Nobody is infallible.
Only Quoted this So there is a Cleaner Version of this.
I don't quite understand that? But okay, doesn't matter much.

For the people saying changeable cc in Grand Prix, you do know it'd be even harder, right? All the Special cups would be terrible for newcomers.
Here's the Thing. the CPU Never Stop Accelerating. You can Stop. If You set it to 999cc, the CPU will Always Fall Off. You can Just Slow Down. And Stop. And Then Go through the Course.
Except 999 doesn't make sense as a global cc for a Grand Prix? Grand Prixes usually have set rules and stuff. 250 would be the maximum.
And the Cooldowns are Horrible! I was on a Jump on SX Luigi Mansion 3, and a Bob Omb Got Me, Hit Me, then a Blueshell Went flying Emededitlly After the Bob Omb. You get No Cooldowns! This is the Hardest Mario Kart Game!
Yeah, it's the SMK physics, you'll just have to grind/be lucky enough to get past it.

5th AI complaint ignore
Why doesn't anyone want the CPU to get Fixed? They are way too Over Skilled. Plus, Their Cooldown between Getting Hit - Okay I'll put it this way, When You are Doing a Course and You hit a CPU with a Red Shell, they get Hit, but if You wait 20 Seconds, they Won't get hit. But if they do that to You, You get Hit. Their Cooldown time is 30 Seconds, Your Cooldown time is 10 Seconds.
Ever heard of rubberbanding?
No.
Basically, in video games, AI opponents don't follow the same rules a PCC has to follow. In newer games, it isn't always problematic. For instance, in MK8DX, they don't need to drift or anything to take corners in 200cc, instant items, but you can still win fairly easily. In some games, it's on purpose, to be incredibly difficult: Mega Man, Castlevania, Ghost's N' Goblins, etc.
Sometimes, due to hardware or time constraints, things are a little more unfair than normal. Take a look at the first 2 Mario Karts specifically. The design ended up being overpowered, by accident. Sometimes, stuff like that happens. The CPUs are busted, but they were designed that way. Just gonna have to grind until you win.

Anyone notice the music change?

Welcome to MKPC.
It's your first message so I don't blame you, but just so you know, this sort of report(and reporting anything wrong, really)can be done on the official report topic, which is more recent than 5 years ago.

Why Nintendo.
On 2025-05-01 at 20:45:36
In other news, Xbox is raising prices too.
Series S will be $50 more expensive
Series X will now be $100 more expensive
TB prices follow the same increase
Special Edition controllers up, headsets up
All games will be $80 from November
Clearly Nintendo's fault btw (they collectively (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft)tried to stop this before by the way, in 2019. I wonder why they might've wanted to do that before 2020?)
Apparently the reasoning behind the global increase is bc of the tariffs (Xbox is made in China) so to keep the US price at the same point as everywhere else(Xbox sales in the US are double everywhere else), they've raised prices globally instead.
Sony will very much be doing the same(PSN price got raised outside the US a while back), fortunately for us, Nintendo produces their consoles in Vietnam & tariffs are lower there, and paused)
TLDR: We're going to lose a considerable amount of casual players across the board, and if you've ever thought about switching to PC, now is the time to do it.

theres no anti gravity, underwater racing, or even gliders
Anti-gravity was poorly used on 90% of tracks and has been replaced by wall riding, which is a lot more dynamic(you can dodge items, take actual shortcuts, not boring and actually requires skill to use well)
Underwater was always poorly used except on 3 tracks in MK7, MK8 & MKT(literally 1 from each game)and it has been replaced by speedboat/onwater driving, which is going to have much more interesting interactions than it usually with how the waves will function. (Imagine having a green shell graze your hair instead of hit you because of a wave from something like the Bomb/Blue explosion) It's still gonna be boring, but underwater was always like that anyway.
Gliding was so limited movement-wise in Mario Kart 8 compared to 7 & even Tour, the new Gliding is somewhere inbetween both, has shortcut potential, tricks can be used to reposition better to avoid items, motion glider has been deleted to make the gap between pros & casuals closer.
Mario Kart World definitely has it's problems, but when Diddy Kong Racing & SART have both done these(onwater & planes) and are both remembered extremely fondly...
These aren't problems.
The main problem is the price tag, even with the bundle.
Switch 2 w/MKWorld: $500
Metroid Prime 4: $60 (+ $10 for the upgrade)
KatFL + SCW: $20 (if you don't own this game already you're missing out)
This is $590. That's bad. And this is only counting the good/not useless games. If you buy something like Jamboree TV, or the Zelda upgrades, or Drag X Drive, you're going in over $600, which is about how much you would've spent for a PS5 and a couple games at launch.
Obviously I do not recommend MKWorld if you're only going to play it for a month & never touch it again like most streamers will do, but if you're going to be re-playing it for the next 5 years like almost everyone here most certainly will be doing...you'll get your $80 worth for it.
This, to me, is the difference between Sony & Nintendo games.
Sony's games are $70 and still worth it (usually), but aside from Astro & RC you play them once for the thrilling story and...basically never touch them again(atleast, that's the impression I get).
Most of Nintendo's games are designed to be replayable. Even games like Xenoblade have a lot of replayability (if you enjoy Xenoblade for more than it's story, which I would hope you did)
It doesn't excuse the price tag, but this argument came up twice in the past already:
1: For Metroid Dread, ppl thought $60 was too much for an 8 hour game.
2: For TotK, ppl thought $70 was inexplicable for BotW2
And in the end? Both games were justified.
I'm sure that this game will be worth $80, if you actually interact with it more than a week. Otherwise, don't buy it. Just means less lag online, which is a win for me.
