I only really play Pixelmon lmao but this mod is exactly what I have been looking for for a while now.
Granted, no idea how much I'll actually play this as I am on MKPC now...

Content creation tips for this site

If you want to create characters, I reccommend heavily editing a character from the base roster instead of starting from scratch as characters made from scratch usually don't look that good in my opinion. If you are making a custom character, it would be smart to first make the front, back and side sprites, and then making all the inbetweens after that. If you're struggling with drawing, you just have to keep practising as there is no quick way to make good art sadly. You're also going to need patience as creating characters can be a tedious process. The sprite of King Boo is also a super useful tool as he is always anchored in the center of every frame.
U should look up MKPC videos on YouTube to help you
Idk about you but I have not found a single tutorial about MKPC on Youtube, maybe I'll make some tutorials myself later if I feel like it.

Obscure Games You Have Played

I've been playing 'Fire 'N Ice' on the NES lately. Gotta say, it's a super polished NES puzzle game that feels ahead of its time, and alot of puzzles are pretty cleverly designed as well. I haven't finished it yet (currently in world 7 - 9) but I definitely reccomend it if you have NSO or another emulator

Why people are leaving
On 2024-05-22 at 15:11:57
I think that, on top of this, there's also just absolutely zero incentive to play this game. Time for me to do a lil bit of ranting
Online mode only has the base game tracks (alot of which are not fun to play imo). While yes you can play online on custom multicups, absolutely nobody does that, similar to tournaments in MK8D.
A solution to this could be a weekly or monthly 'track rotation' with custom tracks replacing the base game tracks.
There is not much variety in gameplay as Daisy obviously reigns supreme in literally every aspect. You reverse drift through everything anyway so track layout doesn't matter much at all unless there's some really sharp turns or the track is way too thin to be enjoyable. This may be a controversial statement but while reverse drifting is fun, I do genuinely believe the game would be better off without it. Though this would of course leave room for snaking...
A solution to this could be buffing characters, or introducing new stats like Off-Road that could help some characters be better in certain tracks, though the RD problem would still persist.
It doesn't help that the last update was in February, over 3 months ago. "B-but there was an April fools!" yeah okay that literally got reverted in a day that doesn't count. I understand that Wargor is busy (or at least doesn't want to work on one project 24/7) but it definitely does make the game less exciting.
Maybe making alot of small updates where a new feature gets released as soon as it's done instead of having multiple features for one big update would help but I'm not sure. Maybe Wargor could hire other devs but I doubt this website makes enough cash for that. I am not a programmer by any means so take this stuff with a grain of salt lol
Last but not least, I feel like custom tracks have been going downhill lately. Alot of them have pixels that are way too big, basically allowing for no detail or life in them, and the ones that aren't that are just quick textureless drawings in MS Paint. Nobody is really at fault for this, everyone has their own level at art of course. I myself would probably have made alot of horrible tracks if I discovered this website while I was younger. I'm not expecting everyone to be van Gogh or something, especially since most of the userbase is 13 or younger, but again it doesn't help in making this game less stale. Don't feel personally attacked in this, you can make whatever tracks you want, however you want it and don't let this discourage you, you will naturally improve over time as you try more things. I don't know what the general opinion about this is, you can like the oversized pixels aesthetic if you want but I personally really hate it.
Don't get me wrong with all this overly negative ranting. I love this game, enough to sink alot of free time into it making and playing custom tracks. And the fact that this is all on a website is beyond impressive (though I certainly wouldn't mind an app version
), but there's definitely some work to be done.

track/decor questions
On 2024-05-25 at 23:58:12
My tracks are 1024 x 1024 or 2048 x 2048 so I don't think size is the issue here, do you have any examples with poor quality that I could take a look at?
Edit: What I'm predicting rn is that you're using a .jpeg file instead of a .png file (jpegs always are a bit compressed, leading to crusty quality)

The Kernell Collection

I usually dont self promote but GRAAAAAAAAAAHH multicup is complete after like half a year 👺👺👺👺👺👺
- 5 cups
- 20 tracks of varying quality
- 21 hopefully unique and creative challenges (once the validators do their thing at least)
- 8 original characters locked behind said challenges
https://mkpc.malahieude.net/map.php?mid=10216
Okay that's all thanks for playing.

F-Zero Remake Collab
On 2023-10-27 at 09:19:54
I forgot if this has been talked about before but
How about remaking N64 Rainbow Road instead of SNES Rainbow Road as the final track since the N64 one was also a track in F-Zero X (albeit slightly edited)
Or just making an original F-Zero looking Rainbow Road or Mute City 4 or Fire Field 2 or whatever for this would also be nice, I'm just not a fan of SNES RR randomly being there lol
And also the SNES F-Zero racers as custom characters would be a nice touch (Would preferably be the actual characters in a kart but I suppose you could just rip the SNES sprites...)
Just throwing some ideas in

By the way, do we make them 3 laps like a normal mario kart track, 4 laps like f zero 99, or 5 laps like in the original snes game?

Obligatory track themes
On 2024-02-08 at 16:29:23
Okay I think I explained it badly so let me reiterate:
I'm asking for track themes that occur in most if not all Mario Kart games.
For example: Every Mario Kart game has a beach track, almost every Mario Kart game has a desert track, etc.
Hope this gets the point across I might lock topic otherwise lmao

How could you forget about the ice/snow track? Oh right, because they're mostly forgetable...
Oh yea forgor 💀
Hope I can come up with smth original there
Have you done a Track based on music?
I think you're misunderstanding what I mean lol

Just realised I'm only 6 tracks away from 20 (a full row in a multicup)
Since 3 of those tracks are the required Mario Circuit, Bowser's Castle and Rainbow Road I still have space for 3 more.
So I was wondering what are all the obligatory/boring track themes that every (modern) Mario Kart game has cus I'm sure I've missed a few lol
So far I have the beginner circuit, desert, beach, city, water, spooky track and jungle, so please lmk if you notice any I'm missing
