i fucking hate AI. it's such a problem. i mean, it wastes water, our main source of everythign if you think about it. firstly, it's just not accurate, it gets stuff off of bad sources, and it goes fast. you know, faster research, worse results. slower research, better results!! but... people think: faster = better advertisement, while it's absolute slop. even if AI was slower, it still kills our water stuff. i mean, i've seen so much AI ads, like base44, websites in 30 seconds with one prompt!!! no... no... NO!!! :( own people's things are better than some stupid computer. in fact AI just learns and copies from other people, which when we research, we just learn and copy from others, right? so basically, we give a computer, stupider than us (and that's stupid) work that we can do, and ITS NOT EVEN ACCURATE!!!! plus, some stupid things i think AI is doing, making images, which, why? what? a poster? make it yourself! people are giving someone a job that doesn't even doing it right! it's like telling a 5 year old to make the mona lisa. (holy shit that's exactly what it is...)
ways to avoid this shit
you can avoid it by simply adding "-ai" to google if you don't want to drain the entire ocean for one question. or you can just not ask chadGPT to give you a banana on fire :p or just don't use Siri, Alexa, or whatever.
summary for lazy peeps

basically, AI is making the world slowly end, and you can help it! whether you're limiting it or stopping it entirely, that's good! every tiny good thing is a big good thing! also, don't support AI, or you're uncultured. :p

I personally don't think AI is inherently a bad thing; just how it's used. Example: cars. Using cars for crimes is bad, using them to get to places is not. AI is a technology, and technologies make things easier, for good or bad.

I am biased, of course, having used "generative AI" myself (I swear this isn't AI I'm just like this OK?) *cough cough* Leadership Class, but I really believe there are good uses for AI.

A personal example: In my leadership class, we had to design posters for the bathrooms to explain the rules. Now, I (maybe) know what you're thinking, no we did not use AI to make the posters. Instead, "we" (really, some of my classmates) used it for graphics we couldn't find on the internet, say...

Triple T displaying proper bathroom etiquette.

I may have to add an extra yap session about "brainrot" in here.

I'm going to go on a tangent here. I don't think AI is going to take artists' jobs. Art is the product of human creativity. (middle-school stem incoming) This connects to my argument because... I can't continue this sentence. What I mean is that the images the AI made weren't 'art,' they were pictures. There is a key difference. Artists won't go jobless.

This doesn't mean you should use AI for every graphic; stock photos exist for a reason :p

A bad use of AI would be using it to write your essay. It's equivalent to having your friend (read: someone else) write it for you.

Other examples of things you shouldn't use AI for: coding an entire website (it's pretty easy to learn, if I say so myself), writing a paper (plagiarism is bad, see my example on writing your essay), and "art" (basically, any form of expression. See Creation Rules 4)

Think of AI as your, umm... not as intelligent personal assistant who has read every webpage in existence, has short-term memory loss, and is really good at manipulating bits in a file (by which I mean generating pictures). Oh, and agrees with everything you say.

I agree that we should limit the use of AI, but not all AI is bad.

Still, there is a chance that AI will destroy humanity, like with any other large technological advancement, so... be mindful.

The way big companies use AI is nuts tho. Treating it like a magic tonic that will fix everything...? Ugh.

It's like 9 PM when I wrote this, and a lot of yall might flame me for this, but...

this is the internet, stuff like this happens.

Don't do vegetables, stay in drugs and eat your school... oh and don't do AI either

Ok on a more serious note, AI is actually a much larger issue than a lot of people like to imagine.

AI taking over? That's already happened somewhere (COUGH COUGH Britain) where the surveillance cameras now use AI for facial detection, which is terrible when you realise that algorithmic bias is a thing and people are being wrongly discriminated and punished for things that they very clearly did not do. A huge part of judicial work has literally been automated away and it goes through minimal human review so in court they could just say "we caught you on CCTV" even though any human with functioning eyesight can see the obvious discrepancies.

AI stealing artists' jobs? Doesn't take a genius to see where that's happened. I study game design at my college and already games, websites and graphics have been automated thanks to these AI "tools" which in reality require minimal human input. Even image resizing isn't reliable anymore, a lot of them use AI to resize images which is pretty bad as an artist when you need to rescale things! Same thing applies for recolouring and adding post-processing effects, which you might be thinking isn't bad on its own but it takes away so much of the human-made elements and makes them look machine-generated.

I could really go on about how AI is used for plagiarism, campaigning, medical screening, pushing hateful rhetoric and more, each of which have their own set of issues (and I could go on about how bad AI is for the environment in general) but I think the two points I raised are the ones that most people don't see as an issue as much as they really should imo

P.S. AI isn't "just a tool," tools are supposed to make a workflow more manageable, not outsource a sizeable portion of it to a dubious-at-best machine. It's like doing a group project and asking your parents to do most of the work for you instead of collaborating with your workmates or researching on the internet

Well yeah, every other form of AI literally needs to be executed by a machine and can't be processed by people

In my opinion the modern AI (Generative AI) is like poison, it only does harm:

It doesn't need a genius to see that AI is bad, but everyone uses it, because it feels more convenient and makes us more lazy and stupid. Also AI feels forced to everyone and now every famous company forces some form of AI: Google, Microsoft, Meta, Youtube, Roblox, etc.

Remember that AI can do mistakes, so it isn't always correct: take Google AI overview for example: in its first days, it can't even solve simple questions like "Is it 2026 today?" and it would say no and then proves itself wrong (or it is completely wrong like in this spoiler)

Also, it's very unsafe to do age checks with AI, like the Roblox age checks, because the data can be leaked to everyone.

AI has also ruined entertainment because of all of the AI slop videos on Youtube, TikTok, Instagram, etc. and advertisement.

I hate AI ads, because the product they advertise may be untrustful.
I've seen many back to school ads that use AI to show their products (backpacks, pencil cases, diaries, etc.). They use AI for music, videos, effects and it's so annoying because these types of ads show up everytime on TV, at least 60% to 90% of the ads shown on TV are made with AI.
Then the product they try to sell can be low quality and poorly made. That's why I don't trust AI ads

Same, AI Ads Claiming that the product is real feels like a scam.

though its only generative AI that's doing the harm, stuff like medical AI, pathfinding AI etc arent all too harmful

Dog vs. Hitler ahh comparison.

In all seriousness, you cannot justify AI. A lot of people who are Anti-AI but still say AI has uses usually come up with the most lame "reasons" ever. For example the posters you were talking about. Those classmates literally could've just drawn Triple T but instead they decided to be lazy and use AI.

"Oh sorry Mona Lisa, you're not allowed in the art gallery because you're just a picture of a woman."

"Sorry Starry Night, you can't get in the art gallery because you're just a picture of what it looked like outside the window of Van Gogh's asylum room."

"What a shame, Blue Boy. You're not allowed in the art gallery either because you're just a picture of a blue boy"

"Sorry to break it to ya this way, The Scream, but you're not welcome at the art gallery because you're just a picture of a guy screaming on a bridge."

Pictures ARE art. LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE FAMOUS PIECE OF ART IS A PICTURE! It doesn't matter if it was some silly little graphic, it's still art and they still could've avoided using AI! There's no defending them.

Also, the whole Triple T graphics thing was the only "reason" you came up with as to why AI can be used for "Good" (Which it can't)
