What is up with all these new players being so good?

If you haven’t seen, people are gaining points very quickly in the span of two months, getting to the top 300 while some older players (like me) aren’t even in the top 400.
Is there any reason why this is happening?

You mean me? I've been here for like 1 month or so and am in the top 135.
I suppose it's just... practice? Skill? Knowedge of reverse drift? Skill to execute reverse drift? Practice of reverse drift?

I am in the top 150 already and I joined February of this year!

I haven't even been playing for a full year and I'm in the top 80.

@WorldRecord has been playing since january 19th, 2025 and he is ranked 36th in online mode, with 47K VR
I have been playing since february 20th, 2025 and i am ranked 86th in online mode, with 31K VR

A lot of the newer players are good because they have some experience with other Mario Kart games. I've been playing Mario Kart Wii for fun ever since I was 5 years old, so I have a lot of experience playing Mario Kart already.

There is a good chance that these players got good at reverse drift before they played online

Once you master reverse drifting tops is garenteed.
