★ Amazing Creator #1: NexusX ★

Name: @NexusX
Profile Link: https://mkpc.malahieude.net/profil.php?id=43700

I'd like to start this topic with one of my favourite creators that isn't always the first name that comes to mind, but certainly is someone who I think perfectly fits the description of an amazing track creator nonetheless, NexusX!

★ Some Of His Work ★

Nexus is really good at making both nitro tracks and retro tracks, with Rainbow Road being my favourite nitro track from Nexus, and honestly my favourite Rainbow Road in the entirety of MKPC! I think of Celeste's Chapter 9: Farewell when I play this. There's beautiful fuzzy rainbow clouds, the colour gradients of space look so peak in this track, and the aesthetics are amazing :D

My favourite retro circuit Nexus has created is Mario Bros. Circuit. There's no surprise as to why this track is in the Top 5 Top Rated Complete Mode Circuits on the entire site, this track is an awesome recreation of the first track from Mario Kart World. It's simple, aesthetically pleasing, has fun gameplay and is replayable - pretty much what you want in a great MKPC track :D

★ Special Skill I Really Like ★

A skill that I see Nexus have that really makes his tracks stands out is that he makes really good textures for his roads and other surfaces of the tracks. A lot of other creations use solid colours or default pdn textures with no adjustments whatsoever, but all these roads have lots of effort put into them and is one of the many components of the awesome tracks he creates :)

Go check out @NexusX's creations and give him your 5/5's fr

★ Introduction ★

Hello there! I'm Hazel, I joined MKPC in 2022 and have been playing this game for the past 4 years. MKPC has helped me meet some genuinely awesome people who have helped shape who I am today :D

★ What Is This Topic About? ★

But enough about me! This topic is my way of showing appreciation to those who make amazing content for this game, which makes it so fun to play and come back to even today up to this very moment!
Note: This topic is inspired by @ambersillygal's topic called Underrated/Upcoming Multicups, which I highly recommend you go check out

Every so often, I'll showcase a talented creator who I believe makes (or has made) really amazing tracks and/or arenas by showing some of their creations, what I really like about their creations and I'll also link their profile here too so you can see their awesome creations for yourself - you may see some hidden gems ;)

I will also be editing this first message on the topic that you're reading right now to include all of the people I have mentioned so far, if you want to just skip to playing absolute peak :D

There is no opinion imo. Before Gens you had an issue with rating stuff 1/5, the first few messages of this exact topic show you pretending you had no idea you rated it 1/5 supported by screenshot evidence that's still on Discord, which was also followed by further 1/5s thinking you could sneak under the radar.

Quite frankly, if you can justify belittling the efforts of 20+ creators spanning several years doesn't need a reason that's not "it's my opinion" you're full of crap. The opinion card is just an excuse and you know it too.

To be honest, you can't really tell people off for choosing to give an opinion

Depends how you decide to word your opinion, if you 1/5 without any reason then its considered a troll rating. If you hate on a track for no good reason then it's just hating on it  :p

The key is how you say things :)

Question about the rule on unseeable shortcuts what if a track has a shortcut but the creator does not notice it when the publish the track because they never encountered it when they were play testing it (e.g. drifting off a ramp and getting into a area that the creator walled off or boost-panel trick MISC shortcuts that the creator did not notice)or secret shortcuts that the player and creator and tester can reach (e.g. putting a blue mushroom in mushroom gorge where if you tricked on it would cannon you across the gap jump) thank you for the help :)

I just realised this is actually a really good question has been left unanswered, so I'll give a response to this question and it could be helpful for anyone else that has the same question (sorry for the really long wait)

★ How The Rule Is Approached ★

By unseeable shortcuts, I'm pretty sure you're referring to this rule:

BowserJr03 wrote:
7 - SECRETS FOR SPEED
If you add invisible shortcuts or ways to become faster to get a better time for a challenge, then it's cheating.

This rule applies for hidden shortcuts that were added intentionally in a way that only the creator of the track is supposed to know - and nobody else

The reason for that is so the creator can upload a very hard (or outright unbeatable) challenge for anyone attempting the challenge, but really easy for the creator to upload. We see this as unfair, because it can lead to the creator farming challenge points for much less effort than the people beating these challenges legitimately

TLDR: Intentionally adding invisible or inaccessible shortcuts and/or methods (like a boost) to save time is considered cheating and will lead to the rejection of the challenge

★ What About Unintentional Shortcuts? ★

More often than not, if your track has unintentional shortcuts that players can access and it makes the challenge easier, we can still accept your challenge - just wort a lower difficulty rating, because we don't see unintentional shortcuts as cheating, but rather just an oversight by the creator of the track and challenge

We may still sometimes reject the challenge if it's a really easy shortcut that completely breaks the challenge - like for example: if there was only one checkpoint in the whole track, then players can camp on the finish line to end the race in milliseconds, defeating the purpose of the challenge

Also, you don't really have to worry about whether a shortcut may appear intentional or not, we can usually tell the difference between them ;)

If your challenge has been accepted with a lower difficulty rating than you wanted it to be due to unintentional shortcuts, and you fix these shortcuts, then please reach out to a validator about revalidating your challenge and we'll adjust the difficulty rating if it needs adjusting

Question! Why doesn’t it tell you suggested conditions for when you get #4?

adding a time limit is usually a way to get a challenge accepted

a validator needs to provide the feedback
sometimes they may not do that, which is why it is important to know how to make a challenge harder to be accepted

another way is to spread the coins out (if you haven't), which makes the player have to drive around more and find the coins

★ Response To Good Question ★

Hi @RaymondAllStars this is actually our most common reason to reject challenges uploaded, and this is actually a really good question, because how do you make a challenge harder in a good way?

★ Why We Don't Include Difficulty Improving Suggestions In Rejections ★

Firstly, the reason why we don't give suggestions for challenges under rule #4 is because there are many different conditions that can be applied to a challenge, and multiple different conditions work for making the challenge harder in their own unique ways. We simply don't tell you which conditions to use because we may suggest things you would not like for your challenge and suggesting a bunch of different solutions is very long to type out considering the large number of challenges that validators go through at times

Despite this, if your challenge gets rejected you will always 100% of the time get a reason as to why your challenge got rejected, I'll suggest some good ways to up the difficulty of certain challenges below:

★ Difficulty Boosting Constraints ★

I won't list every possible constraint for every possible challenge, I'll just list off some main ones for the sake of time:

Complete the Track:
• If the track has holes, you could include "By falling at maximum x times"
• You could include: "in under x time
• If a challenge has interesting decors, you could include "without touching (decor)

Complete a Lap:
• Pretty much the same stuff as Complete the Track
• You could experiment with driving backwards, or whilst in rear view etc.

Finish in the 1st position:
• You could include constraints that restrict your item usage, like: "without using items"
• Constraints that force the player not to be hit, like: "without being hit by (item)

Reach Zone:
• Make the zone difficult to reach if it's an obstacle course challenge, or make it hard to find if it's a puzzle (but still have hint(s))
• Adding a time limit
• Avoiding certain (indicated) zones

Thank you @CookieBiscuit for suggesting something with coins

★ Challenge Reminder Introduction ★

Hello, I'm Hazel and I'm one of the few challenge validators on the site here with a (fairly long) but important message I want to post here because it feels like it needs to be said

★ Recent Events + Issues ★

Over the past few days, I've been validating about 130+ challenges to clear the list of pending challenges to work through, and whilst validating I had to reject quite a high number of them for a common reason, and that common reason is that they were mostly the textbook examples of what not to create / should be avoided, as stated in the rules in the first message of this topic

★ Rules Being Commonly Broken ★

Some rules are followed absolutely perfectly, which is amazing. I've never, ever since I first became a validator, ever had to reject a challenge for having any sort of inappropriate content whatsoever :D

However, there are some general rules that are being broken frequently:

Spoiler [ShowHide]
BowserJr03 wrote:
2 - GENUINELY IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGES
Some challenges are deliberately made to not be beaten by anyone, even people with the highest skill or even TAS if it was to exist in MKPC. (ex. Complete the track in less than 3 seconds) We see this as a way to get free challenge points and potentially rig the system.

Extra Comments: This is definitely a fun rule to see with challenges, because some of the time I actually beat the challenges you designed to be humanly impossible.

Validators 99% of the time beat the challenges before they validate them, as doing the whole thing allows us to have a better idea for what the difficulty of the challenge would be (and it gives us some nice challenge points too :p)

However, we occasionally see the genuinely impossible challenges arrive and I want to make this very clear - we can tell when you try cheat and make a challenge impossible!! We know the methods!! We know what you do to make it unbeatable, you can't get around that! :}

Something that wasn't specified in the rules, but I do want to make clear is that even if your challenge is actually still possible: if there seems to be intent of making the challenge much harder (or outright unbeatable) by making changes after the challenge has been uploaded, we will reject ALL your challenges affected by this, even if it's technically possible.

BowserJr03 wrote:
4 - RIDICULOUSLY EASY CHALLENGES
When a challenge is too easy, it no longer becomes a "challenge". It's more of a task and requires little to no skill at all. (ex Complete the Track) In this example there is nothing to increase the difficulty of the challenge, so this defeats the whole purpose of making a challenge. (obviously if the course is hard then it's an exception) For these type of challenges to be accepted you need to add some conditions that make the gameplay a little harder and more interesting.

Extra Comments: This rule is probably the most commonly broken, and it's really awkward to type out for a rejection reason because I gotta say something like "This challenge is too easy to be considered a challenge, even for easy difficulty"

So what do we mean when a challenge is too easy? The original rule explains this perfectly, Complete the Track without any extra constraints to make it at least possible to fail or it be challenging to succeed is a perfectly reasonable thing to mention, but this doesn't just apply to Complete the Track.

This also applies to challenges such as: Reach Zone (where zone is so close it doesn't even matter), Collect all Coins (where there's no time limit or any other constraint), Complete a Lap (with no constraints) etc etc. If a challenge becomes so extremely easy that my auntie's newborn baby can beat it, it's way too easy to be a challenge, and kinda defeats the purpose of it being a "challenge" in the first place

BowserJr03 wrote:
5 - ZONES WITH NO HINTS
When you are told to reach a zone but there is nothing to guide you, no skill is involved, everything is pretty much just pure luck and hope. It can also be a way to gain points effortlessly.

Extra Comments: There have been quite a few challenges which never gave any clue as to where the zones may be (neither in their title, description or in the circuit themselves), so certain things get assumed like "oh okay maybe I just complete a lap?" but that's just general guessing as to where the zones may be

Luckily, we are able to see exactly where the creator placed the zones to be crossed or avoided, so it makes it easier for us to understand what's going on. However, everyone else doesn't get that tool so when they see a zone challenge that forces them to guess where the zones are, they're completely on their own driving randomly. THIS IS NOT FAIR, NOR IS IT FUN. Please understand the perspective of the people attempting this challenge so that they remain fair

BowserJr03 wrote:
If a challenge does happen to be rejected, PLEASE READ THE FEEDBACK before you try to re-upload it. This is another common issue the validators have to deal with, and is quite annoying when we have to reject the same challenge because the creator didn't fix the addressed problems.

Extra Comments: This has actually been a repeating issue recently, where a few challenges were just re-uploaded without changing anything with it. This just wastes our time, and we do have to ban people temporarily from making challenges, who repeatedly do this

★ What To Take From All This ★

So I advise to everyone reading this message to please check out the rules in the first message of this topic before creating challenges, and read the rejection reason attached if your challenge gets rejected. We don't reject your challenges to criticise you or piss you off, we just want challenges to remain an awesome part of this game for players of all skill levels :)

TLDR: Please read challenge rules before making challenges and listen to our rejection reasons if given, thank you :3

@Nodacyclone64 Why don't you like the walls in Neo Bowser City?

https://mkpc.malahieude.net/map.php?i=139885

Something tells me that using the ramp at the start can send you over the invisible walls because their height is probably tiny, alongside how you can literally get to the bridge early if you go to the corners
