Update Suggestion: A section on Mario Kart PC that teaches people how to read so stuff like this doesn't happen again

Reading Kart PC

Alright I'd like to make a suggestion on improving the UI for this game as a whole.

Mario Kart PC is a very old game, it's been around since 2010, and it's 2026 now. So I have an idea that might make the game look awesome while still sticking to the original charm of Mario Kart PC

Introducing: Themes

Themes could be a small drop down menu in the settings of your profile, where you will initially have two main themes. Modern (For the people who would like a fresh coat of paint for the UI) and Legacy (For the people who want MKPC to have the same look as it does today. The player is able to switch between these themes at any time.

The general layout of the site will remain the same. However, certain visual features will be improved upon in this theoretical update. The "FINISH" text won't be some random orange text that appears, contrasting to the rest of the font. It will be like a more Super Mario Kart like Finish, like with the other UI on screen. Leaderboards when finishing a race won't be green rectangles and fonts will be somewhat consistent.

Not everything needs to be changed, but just a few things that feel inconsistent or out of place.

The Current Solution We Have And Why It's Not Great

Up to and including now, players have been able to change the look of Mario Kart PC through Chrome extensions that allows you to edit how your client views a webpage. This offers more customisability and is currently one of the only alternatives to change the look of Mario Kart PC, but it has some pretty significant flaws.

Firstly, it's completely inaccessible to mobile players, even if you are to somehow figure out a way on mobile, it's not going to be easy to change stuff. Secondly, this is a very manual process, you have to change a lot of things to make Mario Kart PC look just right for you.

Conclusion / TLDR

I think by having themes on Mario Kart PC, it could look like a more polished game whilst still maintaining the structure of the site. It's not the hardest feature to implement (and probably not of most priority), but I think it will make the game look much better.

Short and should be simple to implement, please make it so that if a track is not published, the user does not have the ability to publish a challenge if the track itself is not published.

They can then only publish the challenge if the track itself is published. If the user deletes sharing of that track, the challenge becomes un-published and the points gained for that challenge are removed. This removes any possibility of point abuse.

How to drift?

There is a limit to what can be sent, like you obviously can't send real gore or rule34 or whatever, but thankfully from what I've seen the community doesn't do this much, or if at all

Discord is 13+, hence why there's older members, so I think it's a good thing you can say what you want without restrictions

The name of this topic sounds like one of those clickbait apology cancel culture YouTube videos and the use of the 'shit' word and the 'fuck' word is really offensive and hurt my feelings

OKAY, ACTUALLY BEING FOR REAL NOW

I think the message counter on MKPC's forums is not actually a bad thing, as it does show that a user has been active on the forums and it's like a nice accolade to have. However, it does prove to be bad for the forums when people try abuse this to get the funny number to go up. I have a few suggestions to make.

1. Remove The Message Leaderboard

I think this is the #1 reason there is so much forum slop. This leaderboard is pointless anyways and it encourages people to say a bunch of useless stuff so they can gain message count. This is the thing that mostly fuels 'competitive talking'.

2. An Actual Report System

This part isn't meant to complain or anything, but I think a good way to remove the forum slop from report topics is by having an entirely separate section on the site for reports, that does not use the forums. On this page, the user is able to report people by mentioning them with @, sending a link to their profile etc. (similar to how the challenge moderation pages work where we enter a username, should we feel the need to temp ban someone). Then the user should include a reason alongside any evidence the user has.

The text boxes will work exactly like how they do on forums, but it's not actually a forum post so therefore it will not be mixed in with forum slop. Mods and admins will be able to get their own extra page where they can see these reports.

3. Do Not Increase The Message Count Number On Official Topics

This does exactly what it says in the title, and again give people less incentive to use the forums.

Conclusion

These changes will hopefully make the site less forum sloppy by removing the incentive to send useless messages. And whilst I'm here typing this whole message, I may as well just also add on:
