You can enjoy a product while still knowing and pointing out that it is illegal to use it bro. Ever heard of AM2R?
Also, the law cares, and the law is literally the most important thing on the planet. Non-ROM hack fangames are straight up illegal. ROMhacks get a little leverage because there modified versions of an existing game.
