A new version has been released on MKPC banane

You may remember the lap override feature released last year that brought a whole new level of customizability to MKPC track builder. Well, it just got another major upgrade!

With this update, you're no longer limited to transitions at specific laps or checkpoints... Welcome to truly dynamic overrides, triggered by zones, time, and with lots of advanced options toad Let's dive in...

What's new in this version?

Until now, lap overrides could only be triggered:
- At the start of a lap
- At a specific checkpoint within a lap

This worked great to recreate MKT-like tracks that evolve in the different laps, but it was still a bit restrictive and not always very convenient. In particular:
- You couldn't really have optional overrides that are active only on certain conditions. At the end of the race, all the overrides will inevitably get triggered no matter what, and always in the same order, which reduces the variety of options.
- It wasn't easy to have an override that is active only for a certain portion of a track independent of the lap, you basically had to recreate the same override N times, one for each lap.

The old and cumbersome way of doing zone overrides


With this new version, you now have more flexible and intuitive ways to trigger overrides. Let's check them out!

Zone-based overrides

Many of you have requested this feature: you can now make the track change when the player enters a specific zone! Just draw one or multiple zones on the map, define what needs to be overridden, and you're done! The override will activate when you reach the specified zones.

But that's not all - you can refine it even more with advanced conditions:

- Disable the override automatically when the player exits the zone...
- ... or only disable it when entering another specified zone
This is probably the most useful option, thanks to this you can very easily make some local changes to the track that activates / resets when you enter and leave a section noel No longer need to redefine N times the same override!

Some other useful options:
- You can make the override activate for everyone instead of just the player who enters the zone
- and you can also deactivate the override after a given time

Combined together, those 2 options are perfect to create temporary effects! Activate jumps, make platforms appear, unlock secret areas... Let your creativity shine! anniv

- Finally, you can also restrict the override to players at a certain height level. Yet another way to emulate 3D tracks :D

Time-based overrides

This is another way to trigger overrides that has been requested by some of you. Want your track to evolve after a certain delay? Or create a late-race surprise not tied to laps? Time triggers are now possible!
Set a time after race start, and an override will activate when that timer is reached.

Like for zones, you can also optionally set a time to untrigger the override, bringing back the default behavior.

Make some platforms fall after 1 minute!

These 2 new trigger types allow for way more creative freedom and make it possible to design sequences that weren't feasible before. Falling platforms, hazard phases, hidden shortcuts... The only limit is your imagination 8)

Smooth transitions ✨

One of the drawbacks of the previous overrides version was how abrupt the changes could feel, especially when swapping images or backgrounds. This issue is now resolved!

You can now enable smooth transitions between overrides. Instead of instantly swapping visuals, the game will gradually fade between them for:
- Map image
- Background
- Out color

It's a small touch, but it really improves the visual flow when a change occurs ;)

Battle mode support!

This used to be another limitation: overrides couldn't be used in Battle mode since there is no notion of laps or checkpoints in this mode.
Now, you can use these new override types in battle courses - zone-based and time-based both work!
You can even combine them to build arenas that evolve dynamically during the match yoshi

Bug Fixes

Last but not least: by rewriting the override engine, I took the opportunity to fix a lot of minor issues related to overrides. Hopefully, this new version is more stable and consistent 🙌

Vous vous souvenez sûrement de l'update des modificateurs de tours sortie l'année dernière, qui avait apporté bien plus de personnalisation dans l'éditeur de circuits. Et bien, la feature revient en force avec une nouvelle mise à jour !

Avec cette version, vous n'êtes désormais plus limités à des transitions au début d'un tour ou à un checkpoint spécifique... Place aux modificateurs dynamiques, déclenchés à des zones ou après un timer, et avec de nombreuses options avancées toad Explorons tout ça...

Quelles sont les nouveautés ?

Jusqu'à présent, un modificateur ne pouvait être déclenché que :
- Au début d'un tour
- À un checkpoint précis dans un tour

C'était très utile pour recréer des circuits à la MKT qui évoluent au fil des tours, mais ça restait assez restrictif et pas toujours très pratique. En particulier :
- Il était impossible d'avoir des modificateurs optionnels, activés uniquement dans certaines conditions. À la fin de la course, tous les modificateurs finissent forcément par s'activer, et toujours dans le même ordre, ce qui réduit les possibilités.
- C'était assez compliqué de créer un modificateur qui s'applique seulement sur une portion du circuit indépendante du tour. Il fallait en gros recréer le même modificateur N fois, une fois par tour.

Avec cette nouvelle version, vous disposez désormais de moyens plus flexibles et intuitifs pour déclencher vos modificateurs. Petit tour d'horizon hap

Modificateurs par zone

Une option qui a été beaucoup demandée : vous pouvez maintenant faire en sorte que le circuit change lorsque le joueur entre dans une zone ! Il suffit de dessiner une ou plusieurs zones sur la carte, de définir ce qui doit être modifié, et voilà ! Le modificateur s'active quand vous entrez dans la zone spécifiée.

Mais ce n'est pas tout - vous pouvez aller encore plus loin avec des options avancées :

- Désactiver automatiquement le modificateur quand le joueur sort de la zone...
- ... ou quand il entre dans une autre zone précisée
C'est sûrement l'option la plus pratique : grâce à ça, vous pouvez facilement activer temporairement des changements dans une section, qui sont automatiquement réinitialisés à la sortie noel Plus besoin de recréer N fois le même override !

Autres options pratiques :
- Vous pouvez choisir d'activer le modificateur pour tous les joueurs, au lieu de seulement celui qui entre dans la zone
- et vous pouvez désactiver le modificateur après un certain délai

Combinées ensemble, ces 2 options sont parfaites pour créer des effets temporaires ! Déclencher des sauts, faire apparaître des plateformes, débloquer des zones secrètes... Laissez parler votre créativité ! anniv

- Enfin, vous pouvez restreindre le modificateur à une certaine hauteur - un moyen supplémentaire d'émuler des circuits en 3D :D

Modificateurs temporels

Une autre nouveauté qui a été demandée par plusieurs membres : vous pouvez maintenant déclencher un modificateur au bout d'un certain temps de course !  
Idéal pour faire évoluer le circuit après un délai, ou créer un effet de surprise en fin de course.

Comme pour les zones, vous pouvez aussi définir un temps à partir duquel le modificateur doit être désactivé pour revenir au comportement précédent.

Faites tomber des plateformes après 1 minute !


Ces deux nouveaux types de déclencheurs vous offrent bien plus de liberté créative, et permettent des séquences impossibles à imaginer auparavant. Plateformes dynamiques, phases dangereuses, passages secrets... La seule limite est votre imagination 8)

Transitions fluides ✨

Un des défauts avec l'ancien système était au niveau des transitions un peu brutales entre 2 modificateurs, notamment lors du changement d'image ou d'arrière-plan.  
C'est désormais corrigé aussi !

Vous pouvez maintenant activer les transitions continues entre les modificateurs. L'image ou l'arrière-plan ne change plus instantanément, ils transitionnent progressivement. Cet effet s'applique à :
- L'image du circuit
- L'arrière-plan
- La couleur de fond

Un petit détail mais qui fait toute la différence en course ;)

Support du mode bataille !

C'était une autre limite des versions précédentes : les modificateurs n'étaient pas disponibles en mode bataille, puisqu'il n'y a pas de notion de tours ou checkpoints dans ce mode.

Ce n'est plus un problème : vous pouvez maintenant utiliser ces nouveaux types de modificateurs dans les arènes !  
Zones ou timers, tout est possible - et vous pouvez ainsi les combiner pour créer des arènes qui évoluent au fil de la partie yoshi

Corrections de bugs

Et pour finir : la refonte du système de modificateurs a été l'occasion de corriger pas mal de bugs mineurs. Cette version devrait être plus stable et plus cohérente 🙌

Avec cette version, la fonction des modificateurs passe à un tout autre niveau. Entre les zones, les timers, les transitions fluides et la compatibilité en bataille, les possibilités de gameplay ont été décuplées.

Curieux de voir ce que vous allez créer avec tout ça - vous aurez sûrement des idées que je n'ai même pas imaginées guitare

RedPikmin95 yeah, tho i dont like how the music override works. the way it works is it doesnt seamlessly transition from one song to another, it instead stops the current theme and starts the new theme AT THE BEGINNING. (this makes it so that, if you accidentally override the music with itself a handful of times, it will just keep on with stopping the theme its playing and playing it again from the start instead of the theme being the same) i really hope this gets fixed one day

Nodac64 I think this update makes the override feature 90% completed now. We got absolutely everything needed to make tracks way easier and way better without having to deal with a questionnable checkpoint system.
The only thing that could be added is something that could copy an entire override for all 3 laps. It could be easier than creating the overrides and then copying everything from an override to another. A bug that hasn't been fixed however is the music stopping for no reason whenever it's overriden. There could also be something to reuse a background from a previous override (would prevent having to reload the same background, thus making the "Smooth transition" actually smooth and not laggy for players with high ping.
Incredible update! The editor is offering a lot of different possibilities now. Can't wait to see what the community will be able to create with all these new possibilities!!
