Worst Track in the Base Game?
On 2025-07-28 at 17:49:53
I'm fine with DS Rainbow Road and (kinda) SNES Rainbow Road
Choco Island 2's giant mud/offroad pit is annoying, online I have to drive around it since there's a bit of regular road on the very left
I have to agree on CI2 1000%. That mud pit both adds nothing and manages to be annoying at the same time.

When I say worst, I mean objectively worst iyo. Give reasoning, etc.

How come nobody plays online Battle Mode?
On 2025-08-02 at 21:22:23
So in all of my time in MKPC I have only joined online Battle Mode 1 time so as the name of the topic says, why does nobody play Battle mode online?
Probably, it has less maps and you can't use reverse drift. I don't know.
To clarify, you can use Rd. It's just really ineffective compared to VS, and the skill gap being so low doesn't elicit many replays.
Why does mkpc feel...lifeless
On 2025-08-02 at 21:25:47
Whenever you are playing a mario kart game (depending which one), they feel alive mainly because the characters have voices for every thing they do. If you were to hit someone with a shell or banana, why don't they say "oh, yeah" or something like that. Is it because of the servers or we want the game to run on low-end pcs? Or is that mkpc is based on snes mario kart?
Mario Kart PC is based off of Super Mario Kart, and also since custom characters exist it will be pointless.
Yes, I know, but personally I think, wouldn't that feel strange? MKPC is a 16-bit game, and wouldn't that feel weird with voices?
Probably it would feel strange. But they can add a sound of some sort that I (or other players) can know if our shell or banana have done their job just like in other mk games
It wouldn't be worth it. They'd have to add separate code to play "X Sound" every time somebody gets hit, which could cause issues for a game that purposefully makes itself extremely compact. And, like an earlier person said, the game is based off of SMK, so the addition of voices could ruin the charm. Oh, and they'd have WAY more issues with moderating characters, custom voices doesn't mean that everybody's gonna be civil.

Happy Birthday Invu!

What version of any mario kart track’s song is the best?
On 2025-08-02 at 17:26:05
Ngl, even though they're not the "same tracks", of every rainbow road, I don't know why but the SNES version is hands down my favorite. I have no reason at all, just sounds the best to me.

POV: Nintendo stops taking down fan games
On 2025-08-02 at 02:29:57
It's got nothing to do with size either. How is Newer Team still alive? Dolphin & Cemu? (for emulation) Mario Bros. Vs? Every ROM Hack of Mario World, Mario 64, Fire Red. How is this game still alive? Project HDR? Smash Remix?
Personally, and this is just a theory, I think it's because of the scale. Of course Nintendo isn't gonna crack down on all of these games like some drug bust, there's simply too many of them to be worth doing so. No facts back this, just speculation.

Name 10 fangames that were taken down for no reason.
Can't he just look these up :v
Sure they could. But I bet you that almost all of them have a good reason, like how Uranium was making money.
Super Mario royale and the one based off of super show weren't making money. And neither was Pokenet. Project M, not a game, but an expansion mod, had to get shutdown by legal threat from Nintendo. Nintendo is openly against homebrewing your consoles despite lack of any monetary gain on any end, except folks who use it to instead steal games that they'd usually pay for, which isn't okay. Nintendo will kill next to anything that has their name on it that they didn't make, even if it doesn't make money. It's one of those things that, while sucky, they have full right to do, and nobody can really do or say anything about it, because at the end of the day, it's their IP. I bet this stuff dates back to even the earliest days of the internet, back when the "Nintendo Tried to Sue A Warehouse Worker Named Mario" hoax was born.

I(along with the rest of the Mario fangame community) would be very happy if Nintendo actually decided to stop taking down fan games and some are actually better than the actual games that Nintendo makes and it be way cheaper just to find and play a fangame online rather than having to waste 1000000 dollars just for a pointless remaster of a game that we already have that’s just HDified in the remaster and we could just emulate those games on a hacked switch (though Nintendo might brick you like they always do) and they should stop abusing the copyright system on YouTube because Nintendo is greedy and they literally take money from any creator in the Nintendo Creators Program as well as shutting down anything that doesn’t make them money or hurts their reputation. They even made their consoles 450 dollars.
The devs of Nintendo unfortunately don't make legal decisions, so the businessmen they hire get the final say. Those men are greedy and unyielding.
Did you just double post? On the mkpc fourms??? MODS, SEND HIM TO WARGOR AND HAVE HIM BANNED IMMEDIATELY!
Love you too

Speedrun in any games
On 2025-07-21 at 18:32:55
I used to Speedrun Smm2, but I stopped when I stopped paying for dumb switch online.
There's Gamecube...Join Us Once More And You Will Be Glad...
What games are there to Speedrun on GameCube that aren't almost completely optimized?

MKPC Community Hot Takes
On 2025-07-31 at 17:05:52
In Super Mario Kart, not really; in DS, no one remembers it; in World, YES. if i say kb2 is a good track would that be a hot take?
kb2 is horrible no matter the game, it's thinner than the hardest track in the game, it feels like you aren't even supposed to be driving on it when you play it in smk.
but i like it

You can like it, but it is objectively horribly designed.

Mario Kart Wii is overrated. The items are unbalanced and getting hit by one KILLS your speed, along with some of the worst rubber banding in the series, and you have an impossible grand prix mode. Also, the motion controls aren't the greatest.
Beanzard64 has a video literally showing that the CPUs in MkWII are the worst in the series, with next to no rubberbanding to speak of. Their AI is the least advanced, and they hardly win races. Impossible Grand Prix is bombastic.

Mario Kart World is absolutely one of the most disappointing games to ever come out. Don't touch the spoiler if you like MKW, or rather, if you like MKW and don't wanna hear someone yap about it being bad. :P
The first problem MKW has is the speed management. Drifting feels slow, boosting feels slow, the game overall just feels... slow. You can go to any MKWII TT and analyze every move, every turn, and admire the skill required to have such finesse. In MKW, you're just watching people do the same things over and over with no real visual indicator of any sort of skill or speed, it's all just slow. It's a problem when a WR looks slow.
And that brings me to another, more personal problem I have with the game. The new parkour mechanics. This is the one new thing that got added to the game to add more depth to the racing, and they fumbled it so hard. Mario's about, like, jumping, right? Platforming? Why not just make faster sections of a track only possible if somebody uses their platforming skills really well in order to reward good execution and reproducibility? Why not have the player improve over time in order to learn the inner workings of this brand new, complex, deep system? Of course, they can't do that though because the "game is for kids", which is an entirely different debate I'm not going into. Im telling you though, they were sitting on a gold mine with this new platforming stuff, and yet, the new system that they added to induce speed and precision, is BARELY usable! It's often even slower than driving normally! In tracks that just stretch for miles with no walls, how are you supposed to shine through the sea of mundane? You aren't. The game doesn't encourage the new mechanics at all except for a couple, desperate and far apart attempts to have something to do in the game. If you've seen MKW, I bet you've seen the really cool Sky Garden Parkour Cut. Imagine now if EVERY track had that? How much optimization there'd be, how many levels it'd take to reach such a skillful conclusion? Instead, they brush off both speed, and precision, and force the players to dig for it in a bucket of scraps to piece together something that might as well not even exist.
Actually, I wanna talk more about the tracks. The layouts. Sure, they don't encourage speed at all, but that's not all. Most of the tracks are gatekept from you by acres and acres of land called "intermissions". Just, useless, boring, stretches of deserts, highways, and plains biomes. "This is where you use the items in Knockout!", "This is the fun of the game!", "It adds to the experience that it's a real world that you explore!". No, none of that. It's a SLOG. In MKWII, if you use a golden mushroom, the scale of the track would trick you into thinking that you're going faster than the game was even prepared to make you. in SMK, if you use a feather for a shortcut, you soar into the air, take a massive shortcut, and get a nice speed boost. Not only is the feather from SMK forth absolutely useless if not for battle mode(s), but the golden mushroom in MKW, due to the scale of the game, again, doesn't make you feel fast at all. The game is TOO big to feel fast. Whatever happened to the claustrophobia? The more enclosed, not necessarily eerie, but dangerous and compact spaces? Where you needed to, I don't know, drive well? Not in MKW, every player can fit on the track, with no bumping, and everybody gets insane crazy items for free! When everybody's comfortable, there's no growth, and with no growth, you can't even tell whether or not you're even good at the very game you play. What kind of Mario Kart isn't even the least bit skillful?
I could absolutely go on, and on, and on, and on and on and on about how not Mario Kart Mario Kart World is, but I would rather spend those 2 hours on something else. :P
Everything about this game sucks except for the visuals, and other menial things in a grand scheme.

New Character Coming Up!
On 2025-07-31 at 22:03:22
Maybe I could make an alternate outfit for my Eiscue character for you?
I'm planning on releasing an alternate outfit myself, I'm not sharing the original version because it's customized for me in specific.
